In typical GFR tradition, the first event with our combustion car took place at the Speedway in Michigan. From May 9th – 12th the team had the opportunity to showcase the GFR18c in a competition. Overall, we performed well as a team, but due to technical problems we were unfortunately not able to take part in the endurance competition. As a result, we lost some important points. Nevertheless, we scored great results in the other dynamic events: Acceleration: 7th place, Autocross: 6th place and in the skidpad we were able to take first place with our GFR18c. In the static disciplines we reached the following results: Business plan: 24th, cost report: 92nd, and design: 10th.
After the event, the team returned to Oregon State University.
The next competition will take place in Germany at the Hockenheimring.
